General Iroh

I know you’re still kind of angry with me, and I know that there’s nothing I can really do to change that. But I would like it if you would come to my apartment for dinner tonight.

Love,
Iroh.

Bolin rolled over in bed, thinking all about his dream about his ex: Iroh. He…

Iroh disregarded the fact that Bolin had not replied to his note. He wasn’t sure, but Bolin couldn’t still be that angry with him could he? After all this dinner was obviously one of the many ways that Iroh had planned to say he was sorry and knowing Bolin, he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to watch the general apologize.

So Iroh straightened his already spotless apartment, cleared his schedule for the next day, in hopes that the earth bender accepted his apology of course, and got to work on cooking. He wasn’t too familiar with how to cook Bolin’s favorite food, but he did know how to cook some amazing fire nation recipes that he had a feeling Bo would love.

The apartment was filled with the aroma of the food and irons stomach was just starting to grumble she he heard a soft knock at the door. He looked up from his stove and took a deep breath before taking his apron off and straightening his shirt.

He walked to the door and opened it, a sigh coming out as he gazed upon Bolin.

“I wasn’t sure you were going to come.” He said, stepping aside to let the younger man inside.

I know you’re still kind of angry with me, and I know that there’s nothing I can really do to change that. But I would like it if you would come to my apartment for dinner tonight.

Love,
Iroh.

The note Korra had sent seemed urgent, but he knew there was no immediate threat to Republic City at the moment. Unless some strange new thing was coming completely undetected. But then—how would Korra know about it? Then again, she was the Avatar…

In the end he made his way to Air Temple Island in his Hot Air Balloon. He left word with Nyla to keep an eye on everything while he was gone and then set sail for the small island alone.

It wasn’t until he was tying his balloon to the docks that he thought of the possibility that this was a set up.

The Monks that walked him from the docks to the houses told him that Korra and Tenzin had business in the city and that she had only left word to check on the “thing” in the gardens.

Iroh figured that maybe it wasn’t a set up. Maybe she had left something that he needed to see in the gardens and he just forgot about it? Or maybe there was a message that she didn’t want anyone else to know about tied to a tree or something.

Either way, he tried to keep his mind thinking that it was business. Korra wouldn’t set him up…right?

He rounded the corner from the house alone, and walked into the garden area. He actually loved the gardens on this island. They were peaceful and colorful. A good place to relax or just sit and think.

There was no sign of Bolin, so he figured he was right, to think that Korra hadn’t set him up. He let out a soft sigh, thankful because he knew that if she had, he would be the one who had to apologize. And he wasn’t sure if he was ready for that or not.

He started looking around the paths to see if there was a note hidden anywhere.

“Cmon Korra you can’t get anyone else to do it for you? I’m not really in the mood to be delivering a letter to an ambassador or whatever the guy is right now..” The probender objected with a pout as he crossed his arms across his broad chest. After what he and Iroh had gone through just a day before he really wasn’t in the mood to do anything that involved him going out. He’d spent the last few days training angrily in the yards or in his room with nothing but Pabu as his company. Not even his brother had been able to figure out what was wrong this time (although he could probably guess if he tried hard enough). Looking Korra in the eye though, Bolin found himself sighing and breaking the eye contact between them.

“Please Bo? For me?” The girl cooed softly. “I would deliver it myself but I have to go with Tenzin to City Hall today and that’s probably going to take all day. And then I would ask Mako but he’s going to be working all day too. Pema and the kids are still on vacation. Lin is busy doing her really important chief of police stuff. Howl-“

“O-Ok!I’ll do it I’ll do it…” Bo sighed once more and took the note from the girl’s outstretched hand before placing it in his pocket. “You owe me a bowl of noodles when you come back though. How long till the old guy arrives?” He asked, raising a bushy brow.

“Maybe about an hour or so. I told him to meet you in the garden since he’s probably to old to be walking around that much.”

Believing the Avatar’s every word, the earthbender nodded before laying back down in his bed. “Alright. I’ll be sure to get it to him then.”

*three hours later*

Bolin cursed to himself as he ran down the hall of the small building in only his tight fitting undershirt, regular trousers, and with a head of hair that made it pretty obvious that he’d just woken up. He was late. Oh man was he late. What if the guy was a master bender and just threw him in the ocean for his disrespect? Or buried him six feet under? Or just straight burnt him to a crisp on sight? As his thoughts began to get wilder and wilder the probender began to panic even more.

“Please don’t kill me. Please don’t kill me.. Pleaseee don’t kill me.” He chanted to himself as he ran his hands through his hair in an effort to make his hair at least presentable looking. He entered the garden a short time later and could see the faint outline of a crimson red jacket sitting on a nearby bench with his back to Bo. “H-Hey! S-Sorry I’m late! I had to-uhh.. W-Walk my fire ferret!” He exclaimed as he slowed his sprint to a nice paced walk. He was near enough to the man now so that he could make out a bit more of him and green eyes squinted as Bolin looked even closer. He looked all to familiar… Wait a minute-

“W-Wait….. Iroh?” He asked softly, almost afraid for the other to turn around so that he could see his face. He could feel his heart skipping beats already in his chest. ‘Spirits don’t let that be him…’

Iroh turned and his heart fell to his stomach. There was no way Korra did this…no way! It was too—She just wouldn’t!

His heart sped up in his chest and he stayed perfectly still. Bo looked—kinda in the middle of amazingly sexy and tired maybe? Iroh kind of hoped that the earthbender was having as much trouble sleeping as he was, himself, even though that’s awful.

“Bolin.” He said in a surprisingly calm sounding voice. “Korra led me to believe there was something important—” He stopped before he could finish.

She really had set him up.

He sighed and shook his head. “I think we’ve been tricked.”
